Discovery: Sara Bareilles
I was driving home from graduation practice last week when I heard this
song on the car radio. The syncopated rhythm of the piano was enough to
catch my attention, so I grabbed my phone and wrote down one line for
reference. As soon as I got home, I searched for the artist and got
myself a copy of the song.

Her
name is Sara Bareilles. I've never heard of her before. Usually when
there's a song I like from a "new" artist, I try to listen to the
entire album to see if they're worth downloading into my mp3 player. It
took me a week before I could get a copy of her album (Little Voice,
released 2007).
The last time I listened to an album and loved
almost all of the tracks in it was back when The Corrs released their
"Borrowed Heaven" CD (2003, I think). I like how she weaved great piano
pop, a wee bit of rock, and a touch of jazz together that you can't
help but bob your head to the beat and just feel good. If you like
Aimee Mann, Delta Goodrem, Norah Jones, and maybe Rachel Yamagata, you
might want to give Sara Bareilles a try.
Favorite tracks: "Love
Song", "Vegas", "Bottle It Up", "One Sweet Love", "Morningside",
"Between The Lines", "Love On The Rocks", "City", "Fairytale", "Gravity"
Currently listening to: Sara Bareilles - Morningside
Currently feeling: sleepy
